Fauré                          Piano trio, op 120 (arranged Donald Frederick)

Ligeti                          Horn trio, Hommage à Brahms

Brahms                      Horn trio in E flat major, op 40

As a European Concert Hall Organisation Rising Star for the 2021/22 season, Ben Goldscheider gave recitals at major concert halls across Europe. He is also principal horn of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.

Callum Smart is quickly developing an international reputation as one of Britain’s finest young violinists. He is celebrated for the sincerity of his singing line, combining brilliant technique with the confidence to take risks.

Pianist Richard Uttley is noted for the integrity and breadth of his musicianship as soloist, chamber musician and recording artist.

There are very few pieces for this combination of instruments but Brahms’s Horn trio is one his best-loved chamber works. Ligeti’s Hommage à Brahms is a work of immense depth and insight and considered by many to be one of the great chamber music works of the 20th century.

This may be the first time that we have had a Horn Trio in our series of concerts. So we had to include the wonderful Brahms Trio as well as Ligeti’s Hommage a Brahms.
