About the show

AN ALNWICK MUSIC SOCIETY OUTREACH EVENT

As well as bringing high quality professional musicians to perform great chamber music in Alnwick, the Music Society is committed to a programme of education and outreach. Our latest outreach event is an hour-long concert with a Scottish/Mexican mix.

Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski joins Scottish violinist Roo Geddes, having toured together in Mexico with Mexican singer-songwriter Lavinia Negrete, performing for children in rural communities in the State of Mexico and Morelos as part of a Live Music Now Scotland international partnership last year. They will come together to perform some highlights from their time in Mexico with a selection of songs and pieces from Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina (plus a few little surprises!) to infuse a late July lunchtime with their passion and Latin spirit!

This concert will follow workshops led by the three musicians in Swansfield Primary School and Barndale House School on the previous day. The workshops and concert are supported by Live Music Now Scotland, Live Music Now North East of England and the British Mexican Society.

Seats for this concert can be reserved for £2 from Alnwick Playhouse box office (01665 660550 or alnwickplayhouse.co.uk) prior to or on the day of the concert. You then pay what you afford by cash or contactless card at the end of the performance.
