REIVER

Elysium Theatre Company and Queen’s Hall, Hexham present:

REIVER: TALES FROM THE BORDERS

by Steve Byron

Directed by Jake Murray

THE REIVERS RETURN!

REIVER: TALES FROM THE BORDERS sold out when it toured the North last year. Join us for an evening of theatre you will never forget.

The Reivers: lawless families who terrorised the Anglo-Scottish border for 400 years from Newcastle to Edinburgh, Carlisle to Dumfries, until King James 1st broke their power.

Living by blackmail, extortion, protection and theft, they grew to become some of the most powerful families of their time, with names we recognise today: Armstrong, Charlton, Fenwick, Marriott, Nixon, Maxwell, Robson and many more.

Northumberland writer Steve Byron weaves three tales of ordinary people caught up in the Reivers’ web: a farmer, a lawman and a young woman take a stand against their murderous ways. Will good triumph over evil, or will evil win the day?

“An excellent play… if you have a chance to see it I highly recommend doing so.” – North East Bylines

“Three gripping stories… simple yet compelling.” – NE Volume Magazine
