The Playhouse offers a wide range of classes and activities to get involved in. From volunteering with our Front of House teams to taking a dance class we offer something for everyone!
The Playhouse Youth Theatre is for children age 7-19 years old living in Northumberland. We are an open access group which means no auditions to join and no previous experience is required, just enthusiasm, commitment, creativity and a willingness to have a go!
The emphasis is very much on fun and informality as the choir is deliberately designed for singers of all ages, shapes and experience.
Led by Peter Brown, the choir rehearses every Monday night 7.30-9pm during term time in our ground floor Studio.
Alnwick Playhouse Concert Band was founded in 1994 by Ray Thompson and Glen Hogg and on the 18th March 1995 in the Playhouse the Band performed its first ever concert to great acclaim. Since then the Band has gone from strength to strength and is now an established musical group of considerable repute within the town.
A contemporary dance class run by Meta4Dance providing high-quality training and performance opportunities for committed young people passionate about movement and dance.
Dance for Fun is a drop in class whose members are mostly of retirement age – the most senior member in her mid-70s.
The session lasts for 1 hour and is a combination of dance, yoga stretches and free creative movement.
The Lacemakers meet on Wednesdays 10am-12 noon in our gallery space (this space is accessible via our lift).
Meet with others while you work on your own projects or collaborate with others.

A welcoming group of writers of all abilities and interests, who meet regularly to review each other’s work and talk over all matters concerned with writing creatively.
Spanish North East has been set up to help you immerse yourself in the Spanish Language in an informal and friendly environment. Come and make new friends to help advance your learning.
Our placements are tailored to give each student an insight into all the core aspects involved in the day to day running of a theatre, including Front of House, Box Office, Marketing, Administration and Technical/Projection duties.
