Alnwick Playhouse Writers
Welcome to the Alnwick Playhouse Writers.
We are a group of keen and enthusiastic writers living in the Alnwick area.
We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 10 am to 12 noon in The White Room, Alnwick Playhouse.
The group is made up of a wide variety of writers with interests across many different genres. We would love to meet you and you will be assured a very warm welcome from all of ourmembers.
The first session is free. Following that each session costs £3 with an annual membership fee of £10. Session tickets can be purchased online or at the Box Office.
The group consists of writers of all types, from aspiring to published, from playwriting to prose to poetry. We welcome everyone who is looking for some encouragement, some support, and a degree of supportive critique. We are fully inclusive and welcoming to everyone, regardless of experience. Even if you have not written before, or since school, you will be made welcome.
Our aim is to review each other’s work in a supportive way, whether it i prose, poetry, screenplay, script of anything in between. A topic of focus is usually agreed for a meeting, if one is required, or members my choose to bring along any piece they are working on, considering, or have completed, for helpful critique.
We meet in the White Room at the Playhouse, currently on the first and third Thursday of the month as a formal meeting, and on other Thursday’s as needed or desired. A couple of hours on a Thursday of uninterrupted writing with coffee on tap is often said to be the only genuine spur to creative writing.
Meetings are 2 hours, and we aim to allow everyone bringing work to have a chance to read or present it, and for the group to provide feedback. Although we have a topic to write to, we also appreciate anything else you may be working on – Or perhaps you have a mere 17 syllables of a haiku? No matter, if we run out of time at a meeting with your work unread, we will recommence the next with it, so that everyone is included.
Looking forward to meeting you.
