Keep the arts at the heart of our community

Every day, Alnwick Playhouse brings people together. From performances and community groups to school visits, choirs and creative activities, we’re proud to be a place where people of all ages can enjoy, experience and take part in the arts.

But we need your help to keep it that way.

Only 7% of our funding comes from public support.

We receive just 7% of our annual running costs through regular public funding. That means we need to raise the remaining 93% through ticket sales, our café and bar, and the generous support of people like you.

Your donation helps us keep Alnwick Playhouse open, accessible, and at the heart of our community

Help inspire the next generation

We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the arts.

Our Schools Go Free programme gives every primary school child in the NE65 and NE66 postcodes two free visits to Alnwick Playhouse each year — around 6,000 visits every year.

We also cover the cost of activities and transport, helping remove the financial and practical barriers that can prevent local and rural schools from taking part. Home-educated children can benefit too.

Arts experiences can help children develop creativity, confidence, communication, critical thinking and empathy — giving them opportunities to discover new interests and see what they can achieve.

Your donation can help us give even more children the chance to experience the magic of live performance and the arts.

Your donation is transformational:

£5 pays for a child to enjoy a live performance, screening or workshop.

£10 covers the average cost for a child to have one free visit to the Playhouse each year (activity + transport).

£20 covers the average cost for a child to have two free visits to the Playhouse each year (activity + transport).

£150 covers the average cost of a return coach journey from school to the Playhouse.

£300 supports an average size class to have one free visit to the Playhouse to experience live theatre, music, or an educational workshop.

“Seeing the students up here performing today, what they’ve achieved… this is the proudest moment of my 20 years in teaching” Teacher, Barndale School
